Robert Stone: Is He WWE’s Best GM Right Now? | NXT Stewardship or Inmate’s Whisper? (2026)

Let's talk about the unsung hero of WWE's NXT brand: Robert Stone, the man who might just be the most entertaining General Manager (GM) in the business today. A true master of chaos, Stone's approach to running the show is a breath of fresh air, and I'm here to tell you why.

Geno Mrosko, a lifelong wrestling enthusiast and contributor at Cageside Seats, has been covering the sport since 2011. And recently, NXT boss Shawn Michaels made a bold move by appointing Stone as the interim GM, filling the void left by Ava's departure. Michaels' words of encouragement to Stone, "I know this place can be crazy, but that's kind of the way I like it," set the tone for Stone's unique management style.

Stone's approach couldn't be more different from that of Raw's Adam Pearce or SmackDown's Nick Aldis. While they rule with an iron fist, constantly intervening to maintain control, Stone lets the wrestlers have their way. He starts by questioning their actions but quickly gives in to their demands, letting the show unfold organically.

Take this week's NXT episode, for instance. When new North American Champion Myles Borne was celebrating his victory, Ethan Page, the former champion, demanded an immediate rematch. Stone stepped in, suggesting they put on wrestling gear first. But when Page refused, insisting on a fight right then and there, Stone didn't hesitate; he called for a referee, and the match began.

Later, during the women's championship match between Jacy Jayne and Zaria, Sol Ruca interrupted, causing a no contest. Instead of booking a triple threat match for the upcoming Vengeance Day event, Stone opted for an interview segment, promising to make a decision on the spot. And here's where it gets interesting: we can almost guarantee that Stone will attempt a decision, the wrestlers will demand a triple threat, and Stone will agree, just as he always does.

This style of management is a welcome change, adding an element of unpredictability to the show. It's a far cry from the typical GM role, and it's a style that I, for one, absolutely adore. So, what do you think? Are you a fan of Stone's chaotic approach, or do you prefer a more traditional, controlled management style? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
